Addictions Medicine
Mind & Body
Addictions medicine is a multi-modality approach to treating patients that struggle with patterns of behavior that do not serve them.
Addictive Behaviors and the Addiction Process
Any activity, substance, object, or behavior that has become the major focus of a person's life to the exclusion of other activities, or that has begun to harm the individual or others physically, mentally, or socially is considered an addictive behavior.
Behavioral addiction is a form of addiction that involves a compulsion to engage in a rewarding non-drug-related behavior – sometimes called a natural reward – despite any negative consequences to the person's physical, mental, social, or financial well-being.
