Food Allergy and Sensitivity Tests
- The Ancient Greek physician Hippocrates stated that “all disease begins in the gut.” He was onto something important. Every time we eat, drink or expose ourselves to chemicals in everyday products we use, we either feed disease or fight it. If you’re not feeling 100% we need to identify and eliminate the culprits that are holding you back from good health.
- The difference between a food allergy and a sensitivity is how your body responds to the things you eat or drink. When you have an allergic reaction to something your immune system overreacts trying to protect you. You might experience itching, swelling, hives, wheezing, shortness of breath, or in serious cases anaphylaxis.
- If you have a food sensitivity or intolerance, the reaction is triggered by the digestive system. Symptoms may include diarrhea, bloating, gas, cramping, nausea, constipation, and more. Sensitivities are much more common than allergic reactions.
- We offer several different options for testing food items that may be pushing your system out of balance. Click here for more information

Cortisol Test
- The adrenal glands, also known as the “stress glands,” make cortisol which is your primary stress hormone that enables your body to cope with day-to-day stress. Too much stress over time or dysfunction in the gland may cause you problems. If cortisol levels are too high or low you may experience, high anxiety, chronic fatigue, insomnia, carb cravings, difficulties losing weight, low stamina, and a host of other issues.

Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth (SIBO) Test
SIBO stands for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. It occurs when bacteria that normally live in your lower intestine (colon) moves up into your small intestine. The small intestine is not set up to deal with these bacteria, and they can cause a lot of problems. Some of the bacteria make hydrogen and methane gasses while they munch on the food in your intestinal tract. These gasses notoriously cause a multitude of uncomfortable symptoms.
SIBO Breath Test
Rogue bacteria that migrate up into the small intestines produce hydrogen, methane, and hydrogen sulfide gasses. Levels of these gasses can be measured with a home breath test. The SIBO breath test involves a 24-48 hour prep diet, a 12 hour fast prior to the test, and a 3-hour breath test (once every 20 minutes) after drinking a solution of lactulose or glucose. Prices vary depending on the lab. Learn more.
Thyroid Hormones
- Thyroid hormones are a lot like the Goldilocks story- if you have too many or too few you don’t feel right. But if you have the correct amount your body can start to function well, and you’ll begin to feel better. Tests covered by most insurance plans.
Genetic Tests
- MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) genotype variants are associated with high homocysteine levels (think inflammation), low iron or ferritin levels, heart disease, peripheral neuropathy, depression, anxiety, ADHD, unexplained joint pain, and a few other not so fun symptoms. Identifying the mutated variants gives us the opportunity to and minimize the risks of dis-ease through nutritional therapy and diet and lifestyle changes. This test is covered by most insurance plans.
